The powerful sounds makes this music dramatic with cherishing traditions. ２つのマリンバの為の「じょんがら抄」(571) (全26ページ：表紙と説明書含む) 6 min.　1Mb.+２Mb.   以前からマンドリンの“トレモロによって、うたを歌う”ということに、少なからぬ抵抗感があり、 マンドリンという楽器本来の機能に基づいた曲を書いてみたいと思っていました。そんな折、高橋竹山の津軽三味線の演奏に接し、昔からのスタイルの単なる保存などというものではなく、まぎれもなく、現代に生きている音楽、脈々と流れる血をもった音楽を感じて、とても感激しました。三味線そのものとマンドリンとは、全然別のものだけれど、打楽器的な発音原理に共通点を見い出して、ジャズに於けるアドリブの要素を加味して、出来上がったのがこの曲です。もちろん、これは三味線でもなく、ジャズでもなく、明らかに“マンドリンオーケストラの為のオリジナル曲”です。伝統とか伝統芸能とかいうものは、大切に保存するべき“骨とう品”というような類いのものでは決してなく、現代の我々の生活の中に力強く生き続けている“血”・・・いわゆる伝統芸能を生み出し、様々な【文化を生み続けている原動力】 それこそまぎれもない我々の財産たるべき“伝統”ではなかろうか・・・音楽や絵画、建築それに文字に至るまで、昔から日本人は様々なものを貪欲に吸収して、今日の文化を築き上げてきました。音楽の分野だけを見ても、ジャズやロック、ポピュラーもクラシックもすべて受け入れて生活している現代の我々は、それらの中からより力強い“生きた””血のかよった”音楽文化を生み出していくべきではなかろうか・それが本当の意味で、伝統を継承していくことになるのではないか・・・そんな風に感じます。 (作曲時のオリジナル「じょんがら」解説より）

Festival Overture “Spring” for Guitar Orchestra  (603) 7min. G.O. This was commissioned by Matsuzaka Commercial High School in Mie prefecture, Japan for their 80th anniversary with being based on a Japanese children’s song”Haru Ga Kita(Spring has come)” for 150 players of guitar orchestra. Using a melody line of the song, Hiro forced on to bring in a mood of celebration in the music. ギターオーケストラの為の祝典序曲 「春」 (603) 7min. G.O. 原曲は三重県の松坂商業高校創立８０周年を記念して、童謡「春が来た」を基にして１５０人のギターオーケストラの為に新曲を書いて欲しい、という依頼によって作曲されました。童謡のメロディを自由に扱いながら、祝典に相応しい華やかな曲に仕上げるように留意しました。

Marine Fantasy for Guitar Orchestra  (601] 9min. G.O. This was commissioned by Matsuzaka Commercial High School in Mie prefecture, Japan. 150 players belong to the guitar club, and they are specialized in playing guitars and singing at the some time. This music has been consisted with chorus of three parts. The lyrics are also written by Hiro. It’ was first performed at Marine Day which is a holiday established in 1996 as Japan’s 14th national holiday and a day for appreciating the benefits of the sea and wishing for the prosperity of Japan. ギターオーケストラの為の 「海のファンタジー」(601) 9min. G.O.  原曲は、１５０人を擁する松阪商業高校ギタークラブの依頼によって作曲したものです。このクラブはギターをひきながら歌を歌うのを得意にしているので、三パートに分かれた合唱も入るように作詞・作曲、海の記念日に初演されました。

Sakura Capriccio for Guitar Orchestra  (602) 9min. G.O. This music is consisted with the variation of Japanese famous folk song “SAKURA(meaning “herry Blossoms”). Using a technique of arrangement, it became a totally new music. The melody line is flexibly changing as the music goes on, sometimes rhythmical, then moves on to intense sound, then tender line, however the intention of the music is not describing the particuler scene or situation. It’s been focused on composition of melody, rhythm and harmony, to make it more dramatic. Some people feel a long history behind the cherry blossoms or some of them image a tree with full blossom, or a flurry of cherry blossom petals. Please visualize your own “Cherry Blossoms” as you like and enjoy playing. ギターオーケストラの為の 「さくら奇想曲」(602) 9min. The image of the music comes from the word “Parnassus” which is a name of sacred mountain in central Greece where Apollon and muse are believed to live there. “Sinfonia” is the Italian word for symphony and refer to agreement or concord of sound. The intention of this music was focused on beautiful harmony of mandolins to create the original sound. Princess Hisako from Japanese royal family attended and it was great success. It stands as one of the masterpieces of Hiro Fujikake’s symphonic work. This work was dedicated to Mr. Takamasa Senge, who took over duty at Izumo Grand Shrine as the 84th chief priest in 2002. Thirty top musicians were selected for only one night. The performance was with chamber orchestra for the premier, and later this work was rewritten for full orchestra. The symphony consists of four movements. Hiro worked on this piece tirelessly, pouring his whole heart and soul into it. It took more than two and half years to complete. This music was inspired by the history of IZUMO, which is believed to be “the land of gods” described in “Kojiki,” the oldest extant manuscript of myths and legends in Japan. However, the music does not depict any history or mythology. Instead, main theme of this piece is a meditation on love, being of a thoughtful mind, and a wish for “world peace.” “Izumo” is the name of an ancient Japanese Kingdom (more than 1000 years ago) which was in the northwestern part of Japan. Cello, Bass, 2 Flutes, 1 Clarinete, 2 Horns in F, Percussion.I, Per.II(Timpani) Set: Score + Parts Level: ★★★★　 Duration: 15 min.　 It was a commissioned work for the 30th Anniversary for Fukuoka Mandolin Orchestra. The theme of this music is based on two fork songs from Kyushu- area, one is “Itsuki Lullaby” and the other is “Hietsuki-bushi (Love Song)”. With thinking outside the box, Hiro uses methods of variation as well as symphonic technique on these songs. This is the first music for a mandolin orchestra to use horn to make rich  and dynamic sounds. Clarinets and percussions are also used in this music.  Of course, these additional instruments can be omitted according to members of players. Once, there was a group which has only 14 members and tried to challenge the national competitions and achieved an excellent result. Hiro was happy to hear that news. ファンタジア九州 (084) 1st Mandolin, 2nd Mandolin, Mandola, Guitar, Mand. Cello, Bass, 2 Flutes, 1 Clarinete, 2 Horns in F, Percussion.I, Per.II(Timpani) スコアとパート譜のセット Level: ★★★★　 Duration: 15 min.　 この曲は福岡マンドリンオーケストラ創立30周年を記念して「九州に因んだ曲を…」という依頼により作曲されました。私の大好きな「五木の子守歌」と「ひえつき節」という、二つの九州民謡をテーマにして、ヴァリエーションや交響的な手法を使いながらも自由な幻想を羽ばたかせて出来上がったのがこの曲です。通常のマンドリン·オーケストラにフルート、クラリネット、打楽器、そして私のマンドリン作品では今回初めてホルンを加えることにより豊かな響きを作り上げるように試みられています。曲想がどんどん湧いてきて、とても楽しく作曲できました。この作品は管楽器パートも全て入れて演奏すると壮大な響きが作れますが、省略して演奏も出来るように書かれています。メンバーが14人しかいないけれど「どうしてもこの曲を演奏したい」と取り組み、全国大会まで勝ち進み優秀な成績を治めた高校がありましたが、このニュースを聞き、作曲者として、とても嬉しく思いました。

The music includes Japanese drums, percussions and flute in order to create dynamic sounds of the orchestra. The title “Life Best” came from the idea of breathings from lives. The music is originally based on “DOKI(ancient earthen vessel)” which is the 200 people chorus music with orchestra sounds. It expresses the rhythm of ancient time with consisting of dynamic melody line.  The part of Japanese drums can be replaced other instruments. ライフ·ビート (083) スコアとパート譜のセット 難易度：★★★★　 演奏時間：14 min.　 この曲は、千葉東高校マンドリン部40回演奏会の為に作曲したもので、高校生によって委嘱初演された初めてのマンドリン·オーケストラ作品です。マンドリン.オーケストラの各楽器の機能と魅力を最大限に引き出して、生命力に溢れた”躍動感”を生み出す事に重点を於いて作曲しました。日本太鼓を含む打楽器やフルートもその効果をより高める為に使われています。タイトルもそのような意図に由来します。この曲の主要テーマ.メロディは、200人の混声大合唱、ピアノ、打楽器、シンセサイザーによって初演された、「土器」の中から引用されています。中条雅二先生の詩による「土器」は、太古の人間の生命力を力強く歌った演奏時間30分を超すエネルギッシュな大曲ですが、この中から３つのメロディ（1曲目-あらえ！日の神や！／6曲目-歌垣／10曲目-陽ば昇れ！）を抽出して、土器以外のメロディと融合させる事により、新たな命を吹き込まれた「Life Beat」が誕生しました。変拍子も自然な鼓動として違和感なく音楽の流れに溶け込んでいて、現代の我々の中にも力強く息づく、太古から脈々と続いてきた生命の躍動感の表現に役立っています。

They requested a new music about Asia.  Followings are words came up with Hiro’s mind when he started composing. The original work was for chorus of 229 members and solo orchestra at special stage of “Future Expo in 1988. The theme of the music was for “Usuzumi cherry blossoms” which lives more than 1,500 years and designated as a national  natural treasure. The lyric was written by Masaji Chujyo, a poet. The original music was played many times and it was rewritten for mandolin orchestra for the 15th anniversary of Gifu City Mandolin Orchestra. The overall structure as well as details were totally recomposed for mandolin orchestra. There are two versions, one with chorus, the other is without chorus. 樹魂の歌 (075) スコア＋パート譜 1st Mandolin, 2nd Mandolin, Mandola, Guitar-1, Guitar-2, Mand.Cello, Bass 難易度：★★★★ 演奏時間：14分 オリジナルの作品は、樹齢1500年の淡墨桜をテーマに作曲したもので詩は詩人の中条政二先生にお願いしました。1988年岐阜で行われた未来博に於いて250人の大合唱と作曲者本人の演奏するシンセサイザーによって未来博特別ステージで初演されました。その後、何度も演奏されてきましたが、この曲は岐阜シティマンドリン合奏団の創立15周年を記念してマンドリンオーケストラで演奏する為に新たに作曲された作品です。構成や細部もマンドリンオーケストラの機能を最大限生かせるように工夫して新たに書き直してあります。

The idea stared with the world “Abendmusiken”, German for “evening music”. Thinking of the delicate sounds of mandolin, the image of twinkling stars naturally depicted the medley line. Hiro wanted to revive the style of baroque music, grand concerto to the present, with simply pursuing the beautiful harmony itself. 「アーベントムジーク」より作曲の依頼を受けたものの、一向に筆は進まず困っていましたが、「夕べの音楽」という意味のドイツ語から連想を広げてマンドリンの繊細な音色と、きらめく星たちとの関連に思い至った時に、一気に楽想が沸き上がり増殖を始めました。「コンチェルト」というタイトルを選んだのは、「音」そのものの美しさを追究したいという思いに基づき、バロック音楽の「合奏協奏曲」を現代に蘇らせたい、という意図があったからです。主要なメロディは、ミュージカル「小さな虫の物語」から引用されました。

It is a perfect piece, who are looking for a Japanese melody with tender technique. さくら奇想曲 (050) 1st Mandolin, 2nd Mandolin, Mandola, Guitar, Mand.Cello, Bass 難易度: ★★★ 演奏時間：9 分 日本古謡「さくら」をテーマにしたヴァリエーションで曲が構成されています。 誰でも知っている日本古謡「さくら」のメロディを、変奏曲の技術をかなり自由に使いながら新しい作品として作曲しました。リズミックな動きから、激しく力強くなったり、美しく優美な曲想になったり、音楽は様々な形に変化していきますが具体的な状況を描写しようとしたものではありません。音楽のメロディ、リズム、ハーモニーという要素を如何に変化に富んだ組み合わせで面白くするか、という事に留意しました。長い悠久の歴史を感じる人もいれば、満開に咲き誇る一面の桜をイメージする人もいるかもしれないし、ハラハラと舞い散る桜吹雪を思い描く人もあるまもしれません。演奏する人、聞く人、それぞれ自由な連想をふくらませてお楽しみ頂ければ嬉しく思います。「こうあるべきである」というような特定のイメージはありませんので「自分達がこのように感じる」という自由なイメージを大切にして下さい。例えば「風が吹いてきて舞い散る桜」とか「野山一面に咲き誇る桜」とか自分達で感じるイメージを大切にしてみて下さい。

This was the first music worked with Masaji Chujyo, a poet. We selected 8 ballads from his collection of poems, titled ” Bottoms of pavement”. Each poem has fairy tale stories and that lead us to the wonderland. Pastoral Fantasy （English / Japanese） Fantasia Pastorale （Italy） Fantaisie pastorale （France） The most well performed piece. It was the second work for Hiro to compose a mandolin orchestra, the work was composing during June to July, 1975 and was first performed by Tokai Student Mandolin Association in August. The inspiration of this music came from fresh greenary in early summer. The title of “Pastoral Fantasy” is based on the image of pastoral scenery and it consists the theme of the music. The following is the construction of the music. 1. Initial pastoral andante 2. Introduction of fugue, develop freely
3. Recreation of touching pastoral theme
4. Powerful coda Please do not stick with interpretation of the music, just feel the sounds, as you like. It would be great pleasure for the composer if this music means something to those who play or listen to it. It’s been elaborated on details of playing technique and in order to be performed more easily, it’s been totally rewrote from the original(066). Even 6 parts of mandolin ensemble is able to make more effective sounds with this score than the original. Parts of  wind instruments and percussion can be omitted. It was first performed by Keio University at 100th anniversary in2010. パストラルファンタジー2010完全新版【 Fl.Cl.打楽器追加版 】(103) スコア・パート譜セット 編成:マンドリン×2、マンドラ、マンドロンチェロ、ギター、コントラバス、フルート、クラリネット、打楽器 難易度【上級★★★★】 演奏時間:14分 この作品は、藤掛廣幸マンドリン第二作目の作品で、1975年6月から7月にかけて作曲、東海学生マンドリン連盟のコンサートで8月に初演されました。作曲中には、イメージの中に、初夏のみずみずしい新緑がありました。曲名の由来は、牧歌的な第一部のテーマがこの曲の抒情の核となっている為です。自由に聞いて下されば良いのですが、全体の構成等は、 １＃最初の牧歌的なアンダンテ、
２＃フーガに始まり自在に展開していく第二部、
３＃そしてパストラルテーマの感動的な再現を経て、
４＃力強いコーダへと流れ込んで行きます。 しかし、この曲は、それらには関係なく、演奏する人、聴く人がそれぞれ自由なファンタジーをふくらませてゆけばよいのであって、何らか、精神的に豊かなものを、聞く人にもたらすようなことがあれば、作曲者にとっては最大の喜びです。

The album was nominated in the top Ten in the billboard classical cross over in U.S.A. and made a million sell. 3 songs were selected and arranged for mandolin orchestra.
