This is the short version of Fantasia Kyushu within 10 minus. 
The theme of this music is based on two fork songs from Kyushu- area, one is “Itsuki Lullaby” and the other is “Hietsuki-bushi (Love Song)”. With thinking outside the box, Hiro uses methods of variation as well as symphonic technique on these songs. This is the first music for a mandolin orchestra to use horn to make rich  and dynamic sounds. Clarinets and percussions are also used in this music.  Of course, these additional instruments can be omitted according to members of players. Once, there was a group which has only 14 members and tried to challenge the national competitions and achieved an excellent result. Hiro was happy to hear that news.

演奏するのに十数分かかる原曲をコンクール用10分に書き直した版です。
原曲は福岡マンドリンオーケストラ創立30周年を記念して「九州に因んだ曲を…」という依頼により作曲されました。私の大好きな「五木の子守歌」と「ひえつき節」という、二つの九州民謡をテーマにして、ヴァリエーションや交響的な手法を使いながらも自由な幻想を羽ばたかせて出来上がったのがこの曲です。通常のマンドリン·オーケストラにフルート、クラリネット、打楽器、そして私のマンドリン作品では今回初めてホルンを加えることにより豊かな響きを作り上げるように試みられています。曲想がどんどん湧いてきて、とても楽しく作曲できました。この作品は管楽器パートも全て入れて演奏すると壮大な響きが作れますが省略して演奏する事も出来るように書かれています。メンバーが１４人しかいないけれど「どうしてもこの曲を演奏したい」と取り組み、全国大会まで勝ち進み優秀な成績を治めた高校がありましたが、このニュースを聞き、作曲者として、とても嬉しく思いました。
