The original music was from the opera called ” The Vanished Sun” which  is based on the Chinese legend. It was composed by Hiro and performance was collaborated with both Japan and China as the 30th anniversary of Japan-China Peace and Friendship Treaty. The main melody has been selected from the original opera and rewrote for mandolin orchestra. It’s been completely created a new music by using the melody of the opera to match with mandolin sounds, regardless of the story. Quartet version was composed earlier than mandolin orchestra version.

四重奏の為に書いた譜面を基に、大編成のマンドリンオーケストラで演奏出来るように書き直したものです。
「Sun Legend」というタイトルは、中国に古くから伝わる伝説をもとに藤掛廣幸が作曲、日中合同制作により発表された２時間のオペラ「消えた太陽」の中から主要なメロディを抽出して作曲した為です。争いの絶えないこの世から消えてしまった太陽を、シャオリー、ユーランという２人の子供達が中心になって命をかけて太陽を取り戻すという壮大なオペラは、中国、日本双方に絶大な感動をもたらしました。この「Legend」作曲にあたっては、オペラのストーリーは全く無視して、プレクトラム楽器に合う可能性のあるメロディのみを抜き出して、編曲でなく、四重奏の響きを効果的に生かせるように再作曲しました。（第13回関東マンドリン·フェスティバル　プログラムより）
