This is the original version of “Aqua Rhythm”.
The story behind this commission was that Mr. Tsuji who created the pipe organ for the Salamanca Hall wished to preserve a music, created by a composer from Gifu prefecture.  He explained all detail structures of the organ and made Hiro listen the sounds of the instruments for many hours. In response to his thoughts, Hiro started creating this music and completed on 1998, however the piece was completely shelved for many years, since Mr. Tsuji past away and staff came and went, then nobody knew even the existence of this music over 13 years.  It is not rare for composers, their music are not viewing to audience for many years, for instance, the unfinished symphony by Schubert was first performed almost 37 years after his death and 43years passed from the completion of the composition. 13 years may not be too long to be shelved, however Hiro could not think it was someone else’s problem, since Hiro is the same birthday as Schubert coincidentally. Hiro didn’t want to leave this music just bad luck, so he changed it into Aqua Rhythm for mandolin orchestra and finally it was spited the light.  Then plectrum quartet version was released and performed in Tokyo and became popular in many places. 
In 2008, Muse-Factory.com was opened and contracted with Universal Music Publishing International in London, Hiro’s music was introduced worldwide, at the same time the original version of Aqua Rhythm with pipe organ was released through the internet. Accidentally It got an attention from Mr. Kawamura from Gifu Chamber Ensemble and finally it had a chance to be performed at Salamanca Hall which originally committed this music. The thoughts of Mr. Tsuji and his staff, also the fate of this music made this miracle happen, then it’s been performed not only in countries from Asia but also from Europe.

パイプ・オルガンと弦楽合奏の為のサラマンカホール委嘱作品。アクア・リズムのオリジナル版。この作品は岐阜県のサラマンカホールから委嘱を受けて作曲されました。作曲されてから１３年の年月を経てAqua Rhythm 世界初演！
「オルガンの為の作品を岐阜出身の作曲家に作曲してもらって残したい」という強い想いを持ったサラマンカホールのスタッフの熱意により、この作品は生まれました。作曲の依頼を受けて、オルガンを製作なさった辻さん本人から、楽器の細部についての詳しい説明を受け、長時間じっくりと試奏もさせて頂き、作曲 に取り掛かりました。当時いくつもの仕事を並行して進めていて超多忙だった為、作曲が完成したのは1998年締め切りの期限ギリギリでした。作品を約束通 りお渡しし、作曲料のお支払いも受けたので、初演の事はすっかり忘れていました。　その後、初演はどうなったのかと問い合わせた所、当時のスタッフも配置換えで変わってしまった為、初演される事無く、オルガンを製作された辻さんもお亡 くなりになり、時間が経ってしまいました。シューベルトの未完成交響曲は作曲者の死後37年、作曲されてから43年後に初演されました。私は奇しくも シューベルトと誕生日が同じ為、他人事とは思えません。彼と誕生日は同じでも、同じような境遇は絶対辿りたくない、と強く思いました。「初演されないの なら他の作品に書き直そう」と思い「マンドリン合奏の為のアクア・リズム」として広島で初演、その後プレクトラム・クァルテット版は東京で初演され、各地 で何度も再演されています。2008年Muse-Factory.com のサイトがオープン。世界最大の音楽出版社、ロンドンのUniversal Music Publishing International からの何度もの申し入れを受け入れて新しい契約が締結。全世界に向けて作品を発信する事になったのを機に「オルガン版のオリ ジナル」もインターネットで公開しました。「岐阜がダメなら世界のどこかで初演されれば・・・」と思っていた所、岐阜チェンバーアンサンブルの川村さんの目に留まり、本来の委嘱先のサラマンカ ホールで世界初演を迎える事になった事は何とも不思議な因縁を感じています。辻さんや委嘱されたスタッフの想い、そして作品そのものの持つ想いがこのような形を引き寄せたのかもしれません。１３年経ってからの初演になりますが、どちらにしても作曲者として、とても嬉しく思っております。その後、ヨーロッパやロシアでも演奏される様になりました。
